Hohman Plating does provide the following Conversion Coatings.
- Black Oxide – This is a black conversion coating (nickel
pentrate) of steel that increases corrosion protection and provides aesthetic appeal. There is no increase in dimensions when this finish is applied.
- Bonderlube (phosphate and soap) – Used in lubrication processes and applied over zinc phosphate treated steel. It forms an integral dry film lubricant that will withstand extreme pressures, reduces metal to metal contact,
prolongs tool life and retards the formation of rust. Some applications include:
Cold Forming
Drawing compounds
Burnishing compounds
- Chemical Film (for Aluminum) – Used as an under-coat for paint or for corrosion resistance. This finish produces a clear
(or present method utilizes a non-hexavalent material that
is RoHS compliant) or gold chemical film. Trade names for this coating are Alodine and
Iridite.
- Chemical Film (Dow 7) for Magnesium – Used as an under-coat for paint or for corrosion resistance.
