Nickel plating is one of the most popular and most versatile finishes available. It is a metal that is very resistant to corrosion, provides a tough, durable, and ductile coating.

The appearance of nickel can vary from dull to very high luster depending on the need. Different formulations of the plating bath will produce a deposit having a definite type of use. Below are some baths available at Hohman Plating.

1. Sulfamate Nickel (engineering):

            a. Ductile (low stress).

            b. High Solderability.

            c. Easy to machine.

            d. High corrosion resistance.

            e. Dull appearance.

            f. Electro-forming.

2. Semi-Bright Nickel

            a. Ductile (low stress).

            b. High corrosion resistance.

            c. Semi-bright appearance.

            d. Easily polished to a mirror finish.

            e. Deposited under bright nickel when applying the
                duplex nickel finish.

3. Bright Nickel

            a. Brittle.

            b. Corrosion resistant especially when used in
                combination with semi-bright nickel.

            c. Harder coating than Sulfamate or Semi-Bright.

            d. Bright appearance.
