Curt Bush reaches 56 years at Hohman Plating!
According to the very oldest archived records, Curt has been with Hohman Plating longer than any current or former employee. It seems unbelievable in this day and age that a person works 56 years. Add that to 56 years with one employer. That probably puts Curt in the top 99.9999 percent of all people (one in a million).
Curt started at Hohman Plating on March 12, 1957. Curt moved up from Kentucky with his family to Dayton to begin his career as a production plater. His first job was working with the original master anodizer, Artman Moore. They worked in the area that is presently the phosphate department. At that time we did sulfuric and chromic anodize only. We also had black dye along with dichromate and hot water sealing solutions.
Curt branched out to learn Precious metal plating, plating Gold, silver, indium and rhodium. Since going to part-time status, Curt has learned how to rack plate complex parts that are coated with Copper, Bright Nickel and Chrome. Curt also worked overtime doing installation of plumbing and mechanical systems. Curt was part of the early Saturday morning maintenance crew in the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. Curt worked with legends such as Manuel Gayheart and Ray Mahan.
Curt officially retired from full-time duty on September 26, 1997. He took 6 months off and now continues to work part-time as a blasting operator for aerospace parts, racker, unracker, and inspector for difficult decorative chrome automotive and decorative hardware.
Curt has been married to his wife Geneva for 58 years. Curt has 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Congratulations to Curt for his 56 years and still counting.
Thanks for all the great results and the wonderful memories,

Delmas Stephens surpasses 47 years at Hohman Plating!
According to the archive records, Delmas has been at Hohman Plating the second longest of any employee (second ONLY to the 55 year and counting record of Curt Bush). This tenure record is not nearly as impressive as compared to the impressive list of parts that Delmas has processed. Delmas has coated jet engine parts, defense parts, turbine gears, aircraft fasteners, automotive brake fluid covers, refrigerator parts, medical bed parts, boat horn hardware, Harley-Davidson parts, Delta faucet parts, Tiffany lamps, and WWF Championship Belts. On the automotive side, Delmas has plated wire wheels, headlamps reflectors, window frames, bumpers, grills, exhaust manifolds and the list goes on and on.
Delmas started working in the barrel “room” and it was only a room. It occupied half of what is currently the Decorative Chrome Department. The floors were hardwood and very slick from the cleaners and other chemicals. All parts were cleaned in large stainless steel baskets. There were NO hoists. This was a very physically demanding job with a production rate of three barrels per hour, 24 in a shift.
Delmas eventually moved to the Decorative Chrome Department to rack plate difficult parts with Bright Nickel and Chrome. Delmas was also a part of the early Saturday morning maintenance crew in the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. Delmas worked with legends such as Manuel Gayheart and Ray Mahan.
Delmas officially retired from full-time duty on March 3, 2006. He took a couple of months off and now continues to work part-time as a Specialty Decorative Chrome plating operator, only working on the most difficult commercial automotive and decorative Hardware.
Delmas has been married to his wife Glenda for 45 years. Delmas has 3 grandchildren.
Congratulations to Delmas for his 47 years and still counting.
Thanks for all the great results,
